Anzfer Farms Show Opens Fri April 6th at Park Life

March 14th, 2012

“Holz” is the German word for wood or timber. “Holz” is used for building, and as the opening line of the Bauhaus Manifesto reads, “The ultimate aim of all creative activity is building!” (Walter Gropius).

Anzfer Farms exhibition “Holz” draws inspiration from the art and design history of the Bauhaus and De Stijl movements. Parklife Gallery will become a unified work, a house of construction.

Anzfer Farms was founded in 2009 by Jonathan Anzalone and Joseph Ferriso in rural Port Costa, CA and a year later moving to the Outer Richmond district of SF to our current home at 2441 Balboa St./ Monday Spaces.
Working on both collaborative and individual pieces for the past three years has yielded a weekly flow of paintings, furniture, drawings, repairs, sculpture, travels, conversation, ideas, music, research and installation.
This exhibition will tie together recent and past collaborative furniture pieces while incorporating the painting and relief works made in private. The physical relationships of these materials, whether left raw or brought to high finish, frame the concerns of the installation.
